lunch
I need to add more protein, or serve up more snacks to keep me filled past the morning and through the afternoon. Tofu and chicken, you just aren’t cutting it. As much as I’d be down to go vegetarian for the sake of cost efficiency and health–I could totally use some red meat one of these days. Maybe I’ll see if this weekend to cook up a steak. Hate the mess it makes though.

35mm film
Ah, the wonders of shooting with physical film. I can’t wait to get back to work with the Voigtlander and slip in a fresh roll of expired film from back when my family owned a film camera. Reliving their passion, or just their means to capturing my youth for their own entertainment later on in life. The two images in this photograph: my family’s kitchen, looking into the dinning room and another sleeping christmas tree on the side of the road. I did some serious christmas tree searching the night before trash day. It had to be the perfect size, and it had to be perfectly horizontal–not too lopsided when on it’s side. I probably put more effort into finding the perfect trashed tree, in front of the right house, than I would probably do looking for my first christmas tree to buy. Anyways, enjoy and make what you want out of my family’s 40 year old cabinetry and light fixtures. 40 years old, that’s not vintage, nor new old stock, nor antique. It’s just… old. 40 years old. Nothing more, nothing less.

Can you see the difference? Shot at various shutter speed aperture combinations. Seeking the classic post-new years shot of the christmas tree. Lying down after a long and difficult holiday season, bringing cheer and fresh scent inside our warm, winter homes. It’s seen better days, but at last comes to rest on the side of the street, awaiting all it’s colleagues to be taken afar.

I was really craving Yakisoba this past week, but two signs that I should probably wait until I get all the ingredients–Unable to find a premade yakisoba sauce, and only have 2 packs left of ramen. Did I really go through that much since last summer? Note to self that I need to cut the carrots and cabbage even thinner if I want them to be somewhat proportional to the noodles. Also, despite cooking down–cabbage goes a long way. Also, dont’ dice onions but leave them in slices–not sure what I was thinking with that.

Lazer Genesis RD L-XL
Mike’s new Lazer Genesis RD Edition in black and white. Black and white doesn’t look too bad. He decided to pass on his Specialized after realizing the back of it wasn’t playing nicely with his rolltop bag.
Spent the rest of the afternoon in geisel struggling to organize thoughts and prioritize ideas for my personal statement. Small spurts of history essay writing and cell biology lurking got interspersed as well… Along with the occasional laugh shared with Mike–Mike found some crazy discount on wholesale toilet paper rolls that he thought I wouldn’t be able to pass up on SlickD. It wasn’t before long that the sky went from blue to grey and the library began to empty out again. Saturday at the Library.
whopper and jr.
I had to rush to campus early this morning for a pds meeting, with the intention of staying on campus to study and get my personal statement done the rest of the day. This meant having to find something on campus to eat, and luckily I caught Mike on his way to library, so we hit up PC. After much debate, I decided to get the whopper duo, dressed southern style.

catching up
Meant to get groceries tonight, but wound up swinging by Los Primos for a Monster Cali Burrito dinner. Caught up with Chris, Isaac and the guys over Mario Tennis, Fifa, Call of Duty, and their new ping pong table.
Friday nights are supposed to be enjoyed, no matter how your week went, Fridays are the end of the week. Period. Don’t get caught up with your schedule, it’s Friday. As wrong as you make it out to be, it really isn’t.
take it all in
worth checking out the original of Kevin on both of these…
I’ve ridden in and around Miramar-Scripps Ranch area before, but I’d never ventured down Pomerado Road which is definitely the highlight of this ride. The climb is right around 11 miles, and I don’t know if that’s what made it so difficult, but sizing it up against Torrey Pines and Juan St–it doesn’t seem to compare at first. It’s pretty gradual, so I’m not sure if it’s because of the location in the ride, or if we were just all drained at the time. Pedometer says it’s roughly 500ft in 2 miles, and you definitely got that slow, flat tire feel going up the first 200-300 feet. It might’ve been that we started from a dead light as well, instead of a rolling start. Whatever, it was pretty slow going up, but well worth it at the top. Coming back down wasn’t as sketch as I’d expected, although fewer cars–maybe on an early sunday morning, would’ve been nice. Can’t wait to ride this route again.

Endless Lines to follow, none of them really interest me though. Hoped to get a feel for the magnitude of this thing, thankfully it wasn’t one of those “buzzing” power lines. I can only imagine being in the next Final Destination, as soon as I pressed the shutter button and created some sort of chain reaction, resulting in the collapse of the tower. Taken in the early evening, and despite any glowing of the metal from the sun, it wasn’t warm at all.
